Social interactions can help combat feelings of loneliness and isolation that some older individuals may experience. Encouraging elderly individuals to participate in a variety of social activities helps promote a sense of purpose, keeps them mentally and physically active, and fosters a supportive social network.
Common interests refer to shared activities, hobbies, or topics that people find appealing or engaging. Discovering common interests is often a key element in forming connections, whether in friendships, relationships, or communities.
In this video, we teach individuals interested in volunteering about the four types of volunteer opportunities available at Fundación Harena. We discuss the tasks undertaken once volunteering has commenced and highlight the tasks and behaviours to be avoided during the process. All of this is aimed at enabling the volunteer to choose the type of involvement that best suits their circumstances and personal preferences.
